::snapshots of my average day::
|
Nany Nany operates the office of the Junta de Vecinos next door. She's always giving me a helping hand. |
My Workspace I sit next to a window to a small indoor patio. It's a tight squeeze but just right for my needs. |
Mariscal Lunchtime! I grab something at a nearby cafe or treat myself out to a fresh meal at la Vega Chica. |
Storefront To get to la Vega, I have to pass the neighboring barrio of Patronato, which abounds with bustling clothing stores. |
|
Curiosity It's not just for cats. |
Official Events I try to help out at Ciudad Viva's events and fundraisers whenever I can. Here, Rodrigo updates an assembled group of community members on the status of Transantiago. |
Heading Home It's a straight shot from work to home, so I fortunately only have to take one micro. |
Irarrazaval A view of some businesses along Avenida Irarrazaval, the main cross street leading to my apartment. It's lined with small specialty stores and markets. |
|
Bedroom Balcony - Western View Sunset over the city of Santiago. I usually end up cooking some good ol' American or Chinese comfort food for dinner. |
Meet Jaime My new housemate! He's an art student at the Universidad de Chile. His sculptures are the centerpieces of our living room. |
Ñuñoa by Night Going out? I can either meet up with people back in Santiago Centro, or stay close to home at Plaza Ñuñoa, itself a nocturnal hotspot for many. |
Vendor Carts Plaza Ñuñoa is lined with a row of carts selling trinkets and books. They're open till the wee hours of the morning. |
